Reverse Osmosis (RO) is a method of cleaning tap water to make it 90% to 99% pure. DI filters exchange positive hydrogen and negative hydroxyl molecules in water for positive and negative contaminant molecules. Water polishing is another term for DI filtering and other processes. Deionized water is pure, clean water that has been purified by removing atoms, ions, and molecules from tap water using an ion exchange process. Deionization is the process of removing dissolved particles from water such as salt (sodium chloride), minerals, carbon dioxide, organic contaminants, and other impurities.

The basic DI plant must have minimum three resin columns, Cation and Anion & supercharged resin Bed.The cation unit contains resins, which are in H+ form and Anion resins in service cycle are in OH- form. The filtered raw water, when passed through a three bed DI plant, cation resins exchange all cations in water and the salts are converted to respective acids. This acidic water is passed through the anion resins, which exchanges the anions and the pure water is achieved.The water coming out of Anion unit generally has TDS less than 40 PPM & Hardness less than 1 PPM. Afterthat the DM water passes through third Supercharged resin Bed to get the conductivity less than 1 micro siemens per cm square.
